A new study shows that the majority of consumers in the Asia Pacific region trust online shopping sites, with 90% of survey respondents making an online purchase in the last three months.
The latest Mastercard Online Shopping Survey also found that eight in 10 of consumers across the region who have shopped online last year intend to make at least one online purchase in the first half of 2017. This is led by those in emerging markets including China (97.3%), Vietnam (96.2%), India (92.9%), Malaysia (92.8%) and Thailand (87.1%).
In order to drive sales, providing secure payment facilities (85.9%) remains the most critical to getting shoppers in the region to make such purchases, along with price (85.5%) and convenience (85.1%).
Clothing and accessories retailers are the most-visited categories, followed by online supermarkets and app stores. December and November are also the highest months with special events such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Singles’ Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day sales peaking interest.
