Samsung says Samsung Pay has processed more than 100 million transactions totalling $1.78 billion in sales since its launch last year.
Samsung first rolled out its payment system in South Korea in August 2015 followed by its U.S. launch the following September and its debut in December 2015 in China through its partnership with China UnionPay. Samsung Pay became available this year in Spain, Singapore, Australia, Puerto Rico, and Brazil and will be on offer in Canada and the UK by the end of the year.
Samsung Pay users can add membership cards, gift cards and redeem coupons, and there are more than 4 million registered membership cards in the U.S. and South Korea,” according to a report. “Also, the service continues to add banking and merchant partners across the world, with more than 440 bank issuers currently supported by the service.
